Hamburg City Health Study - a German Cohort Study
The Hamburg City Health Study is a large, long-term observational study following thousands of German residents aged 45 to 74. Researchers are tracking who develops major chronic diseases, including dementia, and what risk factors seem to predict those outcomes. There is no intervention, drug, or treatment involved. This is an observational cohort study, meaning it watches and records rather than testing a specific therapy.
You may qualify if
- Inhabitant of the city of Hamburg at the time of inclusion into the study (Inclusion is time of written consent)
- Age 45 to 74 years
- Personally signed informed consent
You're excluded if
- Insufficient knowledge of the German language, in order to understand study documents and computer assisted interview without translation
- Physical or psychological incapability to travel to the study center and to cooperate in the investigations
